Episode 62: Is All Killing Wrong?

Join Guyton Montgomery as he answers the question: "Is All Killing Wrong?" As a Gospel preacher and a former law enforcement officer in Mississippi for ten years, Guyton deals with this question from a Biblical perspective and one of experience in a field where the subject matter was always a possibility. He discusses the subject of killing as set forth in the Bible, both sinful and justifiable; i.e, the difference between murdering the innocent, accidental killing (i.e., Cities of Refuge), and the taking the life of evil individuals either in punishing a capital violation of the Law of Moses or in times of war against God's enemies. The role of government in "the punishment of evildoers" (Romans 13; I Peter 2) is discussed as well. Self-defense is also considered, along with Jesus' teaching that hating another without cause is sinful and analogous to murder in God's sight (Matthew 5:21ff.).
